Founded in 1986, Corio Bay Sports Club was built on a simple idea: to create an inclusive, community-driven sporting home for the people of Geelong’s north. From its earliest days, the club offered soccer and cricket opportunities for players of all ages and backgrounds, with a focus on participation, friendship, and local pride.
Evans Reserve in Norlane soon became the club’s heart. Early volunteers and founding members worked together to establish clubrooms, build teams, and create a culture centred on fairness, teamwork, and belonging. The belief that sport should bring people together has remained a constant thread throughout the club’s journey.
As Geelong’s northern suburbs continued to grow, so did Corio Bay Sports Club. Junior programs expanded, women’s teams were introduced, and annual presentation nights became community highlights. Evans Reserve became more than a playing field — it became a gathering place for families, supporters, and local partners.
Throughout these decades, the club built a reputation as a welcoming, grassroots organisation where everyone could take part and feel included.
In 2022, the City of Greater Geelong supported major upgrades at Evans Reserve, including new LED floodlighting. The improvements transformed training and match opportunities, allowing for evening sessions and a greater focus on female participation across both soccer and cricket. The project recognised years of volunteer effort and marked the beginning of a new growth phase for the club.
Today, Corio Bay Sports Club continues to thrive as a multi-sport community hub in Geelong’s north. We proudly acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Wadawurrung people, and honour their ongoing connection to country.
In recent years, the club has adopted a refreshed set of core values under the banner COBRA — Community, Opportunity, Belonging, Respect, and Accountability. These values represent both our history and our future, guiding how we play, lead, and support one another.
With upgraded facilities, a growing membership, and a renewed sense of purpose, Corio Bay Sports Club looks forward to many more seasons of sport, friendship, and community spirit.
